This camp is a seven-week long summer vacation, with children who possess the same love of the outdoors as I do. I attended this summer camp for the next ten summers of my life. At camp we were constantly running, swimming, hiking, camping, along with many other activities. Every two or three weeks, we would go camping in the high peaks. During the day, we would hike around three or more high peaks a day, then we would go back to our tents and prepare for the next five days of hiking. On my one and only vacation last summer, I got the privilege on going to my first Younglife camp. The camp name was Carolina Point in Brevard, North Carolina. At the camp they had many activities: swimming, go-carting, disc golf, mountain biking, zip-lining, paddling boarding, and hiking. My favorite part about this trip was the day we took a whole camp trip to hike the nearby mountain. At the camp they had some kids with disabilities that couldn’t necessarily get up the mountain by themselves.…

My professional philosophy for athletic training encompasses four main areas, which are the value of the profession, role of education, ethical behavior and relationship to others. I included these areas in my professional philosophy because I believe that they encompass aspects that help structure your actions and the manner in which you carry yourself. It is important to recognize the value of your profession as an athletic trainer and to embrace the variety of roles that you may take on. I feel that if you value your profession, you will always work hard and try to make the best choices and decisions in certain situations. As mentioned in the BOC Standards of Professional Practice, you must ensure the highest quality of care for each patient.…

In the early days of athletic training, it wasn’t that hard to become an “athletic trainer”. Trainers in the early days were basically volunteers. They didn’t have any type of training or certification to be doing that job. Up until 2003, a person would only need certification through NATA curriculum or an internship. In the internship route, a person wanting to be an athletic trainer would take various classes and courses like personal health, human anatomy, basic athletic training, and first aid/ CPR.…

When I'm older I would like to become a pro athlete, although because that is very unlikely to happen I would become a lawyer or doctor because they make good money. Another job that probably would not happen is to be a NHL gm as I love making my own teams. If that doesn't work then I could work at the Dubuque Medline because they do so many fun things at the job. In conclusion I very much love sports as they are kind of my life, my favorite teams being hockey(Blackhawks), lacrosse(UNC), football(Packers and Hawkeyes) and baseball(Cubs).…

“Fall seven times, stand up eight” is from a Japanese Proverb and is a great quote for a head athletic trainer since they help athletes when they get hurt to get back in the game or to prescribe the appropriate treatment. The requirements, salary, and benefits of a head athletic trainer are helpful but not as powerful as the purpose of serving players and athletes become healthy again and getting them back in the game. An athletic trainer has many responsibilities, for instance they have to be intelligent enough to think on their feet. This trainer also has to demonstrate to the coaches as well as the players the appropriate apparel for the sport for instance: taping, strapping, bracing, and fitting of the team’s equipment.…
