“Academics Over Sports” An anonymous source once said, “The best way to predict your future is to create it.” Creating a future is always difficult because a person does not know what they are interested in yet, but without a determined mindset, an individual will never get started. Laziness in school does not get a person substantially far in their lifetime because they fall behind in school and then in life after school. Scholars who are in sports tend to stay out of trouble more than students who are not in any extracurricular activity. Parents frequently push their children in pursuing athletics. Some parents, however, go overboard with pushing their child in athletics. Because they push their child so much, the students focus further on sports than academics. Being in a sport teaches leadership and cooperation. Playing a sport also teaches …show more content…
Academic scholarships may not be as flattering as a sports scholarship, but they serve a better purpose later in life. Furthermore, an academic scholarship is more prestigious on a job application when applying immediately out of college. The scholarships show an employer that the person is determined and knowledgeable in many ways. In addition, that academic scholarship could be the difference between getting the job or continuing to search for another worthy job. A solid grade point average can provide students scholarship money to attend a distinguished college of their dreams. Going to a respected college is not the most important achievement in life, but this shows an employer that an individual worked tremendously hard to follow through on a long-term goal.
