Athletes Are Overpaid Analysis

Decent Essays
If you don’t think athletes are overpaid your whole opinion shall change after reading this. There is no reason any person except for Albert Einstein, Bill Gates, and Stephen Hawking. Trust me there are reasons.

Every basket scored in the NBA the player makes 37,940 dollars per shot made. To make a layup you've just made 37,940 dollars for one of the easiest shots in basketball! Shooting 35% from 3 gives you a 500,00 dollar bonus. That should cut down to 100,000 or 150,000. Making a 3 pointer doesn't give you that big of a bonus from 37,940. It should jump to 45,000 or 40,000 at least because that can be a really hard shot a lot of the times and people like Steph Curry, Warriors, Point Guard and Eric Gordon, Rockets, Shooting Guard don't make more money than people that shoot layups for a living. Thats unfair in my opinion.

You could hit a terrible hit or single and make 253,968. A home run should be a giant bonus like bigger than now and they should lower the hit pay. You could bunt the ball 3 times and still earn 761,904 dollars. That's INSANE!!! That is way to much money for anyone should make. Some of the smartest people in the world don't make as much as these athletes. That's way overpaid!!
Every passing touchdown in the NFL the quarterback makes 470,000 dollars. Let's say Drew Brees throws 3 touchdowns he's just made 1,470,000!! Drew Brees threw 43 passing touchdowns and makes 20 million. That's more than most people make in a lifetime. Even one passing touchdowns in the NFL is more than the average worker makes in 7 years. Somebody works there butt off for 7 years straight and just earn what one quarterback makes in one touchdown.
Overall athletes are way overpaid and they don't deserve the money they get it honestly makes me mad that someone works 7 years at a job they hate and make as much money when a quarterback throws one

There is an ongoing question of whether or not the athletes in the NFL are paid too much or if they deserve what they are paid. If you ask me, the answer is perfectly obvious. NFL player are grossly overpaid for doing a job with zero productivity other than entertainment and the money being spent on them should be put to use for much better causes. There are many people who think that, because they work really hard, NFL players deserve the surplus of money that they are currently paid. This is false though because even though they work incredibly hard, if it doesn’t accomplish anything there is no productivity to deserve the pay.…

Don’t get me wrong, athletes earn a spectacular amount of money, but just because they earn more than the average accountant or what ever your career may be, doesn’t mean they don’t deserve the money they are earning. And they are not overpaid. All athletes have times of the year where they do not get paid at all. It is difficult to find a job during the off-seasons of sports. Also, that makes it hard to be able to pay bills and taxes; in fact I think they should be paid more.…

I am personally a collegiate athlete and knows what an athlete goes through. Players shouldn’t get paid millions of dollars like professional athletes, because why would players go on to try and play professionally. On the contrary they should deserve some type of revenue whether it's for clothes shopping, take someone out on a date, gas money, etc. For example that’s the same thing as me asking my friend to do something for me and he does all the work while I sit back and relax.…

That is less than the average american, but yet people want to say that athletes are paid too much for what they do. They get paid only during their season while a teacher, lawyers, doctors and many others and yet these occupations receive more money. While these occupations get paid year round and complain about it, an athlete is working his tail off every day to be paid for a quarter of the year. Also, those employed in other occupations have jobs and a source of money before they get out of college to start them off when they graduate.
