Cheating in Sports
Some people will do anything to win but sometimes they do it dishonestly. For instance, corking bats, taking PEDs, or paying referees to throw a game are just some examples of cheating. Some people believe that if athletes are caught cheating they should be given another chance, while others believe they must be banned from the sport. Athletes who are caught cheating should be banned completely from the sport because athletes get paid millions of dollars, it is not fair for anyone, and sports will get more and more violent when there are cheaters involved.
Athletes are getting paid millions of dollars but that’s wasted money if the players are violating the rules. “The average amount of money made by a professional athlete is 2.562 million dollars which adds up to 12.6 million dollars made in an average career” (USA Today 1). This evidence supports my claim because sports teams are wasting up to 12.6 million dollars on a deceiving career knowing they could’ve spent that money on an earned career. There are a lot of atrocious effects that can happen if other players find out if they are cheating like hitting a batter with a pitch, committing a hard foul on purpose or even just playing dirty. Most people want to play sports safely without getting severely injured. “Alex Rodriguez admitted in 2009 that he had used steroids from 2001-03 when he played for the Texas Rangers” (Thompson 1). Because of Rodriguez’s actions, all Major League Baseball players hated him and Alex got hit with many pitches at the plate and baserunners even slid in to him on purpose trying to injure him. Furthermore, if players choose to cheat they are taking a huge risk of getting maltreated and they should be kicked out because sports will get more

The Baseball Hall of Fame and PEDs Many people believe that baseball players who have been caught using performance enhancing drugs, or PEDs for short, should be forever banned from the baseball Hall of Fame. Others believe that those players should be allowed in despite breaking the rules of the game. “There have been over 128 Major League baseball players who have been caught taking a substance that has been banned from the MLB”("» List of Steroid Users, Implicated Players, Suspensions"). Professional baseball players who have used performance enhancing drugs, or PEDs, should not be able to be elected into the hall of fame, because using these drugs is against the rules of the game of baseball, it is morally wrong, and taking performance…

Imagine you are a hardworking doctor or lawyer, and you aren't getting paid the amount you should be. Other people like you who are bettering our community aren't getting paid the amount they should be, and all of your tax money is going towards paying for athletic stadiums. Doctors, teachers, government employees, police officers, firefighters, and lawyers should be receiving the money that athletes receive. Professional athletes provide entertainment for society, but I believe they receive an unreasonable salary. Overall, athletes are overpaid because all they are doing is playing a game to entertain while other more important professions are making much less, they don't contribute to society, there are better places to use the money, and the money received could be used to pay for more useful causes that would benefit our society.…

The use of steroids, also known as performance enhancing drugs (PEDs), in baseball has been illegal in Major League Baseball since 1991, even though they did not start league wide testing until 2003. And even though they are outlawed, many still use steroids and get away with it. This gives them an unfair advantage and if not used properly can ruin not only their careers, but their lives. I believe that steroids should become legal in the MLB to level the playing field. Many people cheat and get away with it, while others get suspended and fined for using.…

The MLB (Major League Baseball) has banned steroids, better known as a type of PED (performance enhancing drug). I insist steroids should not be banned from the organization. With the ban, we will never know what could have been the absolute potential of each player that made it to the big leagues. Steroids will benefit the league because they prevent many injuries, which is beneficial to the ballplayers and their teams club. Steroids being allowed leads to baseball becoming more popular, which then leads to baseball becoming more profitable as long as certain limits are observed to keep the players from experiencing the more serious side-effects.…
