Once Solon left office, Peisistratus took over Athenian government. While, in rule, Peisistratus made reforms that included dividing large estates, he also gave the poor loans but made them build public buildings. The fourth establishing tyrant of Athens, Cleisthenes, who was the founder of Democracy in Athens, included the methods that all citizens will be part of the Assembly, and each year they chose 10 generals to run the army and navy. Also, the idea of having a jury system to decide the case majorly impacted the Greece, because it stopped the possibility of bribes or threats to the jurors. For a short Athenians found great culture and artistic success which is know as the “Golden Age”, in which Athenians paid more money to build nicer public building instead of spending more money on their selves. Soon after the Persians started to make a come back and still an admirable opponent Athens set the Delian League, which was an alliance between Athens and other city-states which were the start to the Peloponnesian War. The Delian league was successful while releasing Ionia from Persian rule. As the Delian league began to grow in economic power because of the new amount of oversea trade, Athens has risen above other city-states in power. Pericles, the Athenian general at the time requested that other city-states adopt the Athenian Coinage system. When Sparta realizes that Athens was becoming too powerful, they decided to make an alliance with the Persians, and they eventually pushed Athens into surrendering. This pushed all Greeks into losing their governmental stability and lead to the downfall of democracy.
