The reason being is because in a democracy you usually do not have to deal with slavery and not a lot of trading involved, there are some but just not a lot. One of their main similarities is that they both contain the same amount of political rights. Both of them state that only men can vote only if they go into a special military training that involves some very hard core activities. Democracy and City-States can both be similar but mostly different. How I see this as is Athens and Sparta. W ith Athens and Sparta, they are both the same but then again they are mostly different. Athens is more of a democracy and Sparta is more of a city-state. In a democracy they are more about their political stuff and how it comes all together. On the other hand, Sparta does care about their political rights but not as much as they care about their trading and trading immigrants.
