We must show no weakness to others, as that will make us vulnerable and easier to attack. The reconciliation agreement will bring much needed peace, closure and strength back to Athens.
I firmly believe that we must not waste our own time and money putting the thirty tyrants through a lengthy trial process. We must as citizens rise to the common occasion of forgiveness and peace. The Thirty do not deserve more of our time and attention. Socrates makes a good point when he states that a tyrant can’t control his itching for desire. This desire drives him to act shamefully. The Tyrants are slave to their desires and this causes then to be unrestrained. It is impossible punish these tyrants for their desires. They will pay a higher due in front of the Gods and we should not interfere with this. The citizens are all collectively aware that the outcome of these trails will lead to a guilty verdict of the Thirty Tyrants. It is not cost efficient or smart to fund a trial where the outcome is an obvious fact. Paying the jury and wasting precious time and resources deliberating about the Tyrants
