Athena Is The Most Valuable For Odysseus
I believe the most important relationship for Odysseus to win the final battle is the one with Athena. The final battle takes place on an island named Ithaca in Odysseus’ palace. The battle was fought against suitors. These suitors are men who wanted to marry Odysseus’ wife Queen Penelope. In Homer’s, The Odyssey we encounter the goddess Athena. Athena is the daughter of Zeus. She is the goddess of wisdom and war. Athena has a large history in battle and she knows all the military strategies so she can ensure victory. One of the things Athena is the goddess of is wisdom. She is incredibly smart and will always figure something out no matter the situation. During his return “Athena helped him plot the slaughter of the suitors” (19.2). Athena is helped Odysseus come up with a plan to kill all the suitors in his home who are trying to mary his wife. This shows that Athena is very wise and smart. She is capable of working with others and being part of a group. Her wisdom will help her think of the next move to do in the battle. In case things don't happen according to plan Athena will be able to come up with a new one. Athena told Odysseus she is known among the gods for her skills and wisdom, but Odysseus is known among the mortals and the gods. She said he is just as powerful as her. This is good because she is wise enough to determine when someone is just as good as her and she is capable of working among mortals.
