The replica of the actual Parthenon in Nashville is located in the center of Centennial Park. In 1897, one of the reasons for the creation of the Parthenon was because of the Centennial Exposition. It is actually the only thing from the exposition that is still left intact. During the Centennial Exposition, Nashville having the nickname “Athens of the South”, which originated for the numerous amount of educational institutions, was also another part of the reason why it was chosen as the location to build the Parthenon.
