Realism – re·al·ism (rē-ə-ˌli-zəm) n. is in a broad sense, the rejection of belief in the existence of magic. In a narrower sense, realism is specifically the position that there is no magic. Most inclusively, realism is the absence of belief that any magic exist, a belief in reality, the real world, an interpretation or representation of things as they actually are (distinguished from atheism).2

Atheism – athe·ist (ā-thē-ist) n. is in a broad sense, the rejection of belief in the existence of deities. In a narrower sense, atheism is specifically the position that there are no deities. Most inclusively, atheism is the absence of belief that any deities exist.3

an attempt to understand and use supernatural forces, through rituals, symbols, actions, gestures and language, departing from what is usual or normal especially to transcend the laws of nature, achieving desired results through various controls of the supernatural or the forces of nature, an effect that surpasses all known human or natural powers and is ascribed to a supernatural cause.4

Note: If you’re an atheist you may be summarily dismissed by theists. They believe they have you figured out, categorized, and know all of your angles. As a Realist, when they ask you, ‘Are you atheist?’ you can say, ‘No, I am not an atheist, I just don’t believe in magic’.

Anyone can become a Realist. If you believe magic is not real then you can be a Realist. Deists can call themselves Realists, and even atheists who no longer want their identity tied to theists can identify themselves as Realists.

Magic, defined by Merriam-Webster, is “an extraordinary power or influence seemingly from a supernatural force”. Realism, defined by Merriam-Webster, is “the quality of being very much like real life”. By taking these two definitions into consideration, the idea of magical realism seems quite contradictory. Magic and supernatural force should not go hand in hand with the real world, right? That idea, however, is incorrect, as magical realism successfully incorporates the characteristics of magic into a real world setting through the use of several varying tactics.…

I’ve always seen myself as a realist. I try to plainly say things as I see them with as little bias as possible. Alongside that I have also given my best effort to try and see things from other perspectives. There is always another way to look at life and all of its bits and pieces and I love challenging myself to do so. Frankly however, it is far from easy.…

He received his bachelors in master of arts in 1732 from the University of Paris. He went on to study law in the office of Clément de Ris, but found himself more interested to languages, literature, math and especially philosophy. For awhile he was drawn to a religious career, but ultimately Diderot was swayed away from Roman Catholicism to deism, then atheism and finally philosophical materialism, believing all things to be made of matter, and that all phenomena including thought and consciousness to be the product of material interaction.…

Magical realism is a less popular genre in literature. Most people find it to be controversial when discussing the exact definition of magical realism. While the papers that Amaryll Chanady, Luis Leal, Franz Roh, and Scott Simpkins wrote have been extremely helpful with explaining the history and theories of magical realism, it is difficult for one to decide which one to agree with. The most common definition that one can use to sum up the basics about magical realism, is blending in the ordinary with the supernatural to the point where it is hard to distinguish what really happened in the story and what did not. An element of magical realism is metamorphosis, the act of originally being one thing and transforming into another.…

The coalition force invaded in 2003 to overthrow Saddam’s dictatorship and establish a democratic state in the Middle East. Although in some instances realism can describe the invasion of Iraq, the theory of Liberalism best describes the invasion because of liberal notions such as collective security and the belief that cooperation can lead to beneficial outcomes to all involved.…

Dreaming means something that might not always come true. Realistic means something that can come true and that it’s going to happen. Even though everyone has a choice to either dream or be real, but I choose realistic because I don’t want to dream something that might not come true. I choose realistic because it’s facing reality and I know for sure that it can come possible. For example, in the movie “ The Hunger Games “ is about several teams trying to survive by killing other teams and try to do anything they can do to not die leaving only one group standing.…

Indirect realism as the more plausible perception theory Indirect realism is a more plausible theory of perception than direct realism. Direct realism was first described by Aristotle. It is difficult to describe the concept of scientific realism since there are many different views and variations of what it truly is. Through my research, I have found scientific realism to define as a belief that well-developed scientific theories are undoubtedly true, and that they work to explain the observable and unobservable aspects of the universe. There are many disagreements that center around whether scientific realism is plausible or not. I disagree with the idea of scientific realism because I do not believe science could explain every truth about humanity and the universe. Arguments for scientific realism focus around the idea that through tested theories and observations, science will continue to make progress in the world and…
