The first step in admission to ATCNE is to speak with the intake coordinator and complete a phone assessment. During the phone assessment, the intake coordinator will get basic information such as age, insurance provider, contact information, and type of service the individual is seeking. The person also will be provided with information about the program. The next step would be to schedule an intake at ATCNE which usually lasts up to two hours. Clients will meet with the intake coordinator, a nurse, and a clinician. During the intake, clients will complete a supervised urine sample. Materials needed for the intake would be some type of photo identification, health insurance card, and some sort of verification of income. Most of the clients in the program have MassHealth. The standard MassHealth is accepted. Also different sub-plans such as Neighborhood Health Plan, Tufts Network Health, Celticare, Boston Medical Center Healthnet, and Mass Behavioral Health Partnership. To serve more people, ATCNE is currently working on taking certain private insurances such as Harvard Pilgrim. Certain plans cover some of the methadone treatment at the program. However, with Harvard Pilgrim clients are required to pay a $20-$30 co-payment depending on their plan. The program is also currently working with Tufts Standard to decrease the amount of co-pay because it is expensive for clients. ATCNE does not accept Medicare, as it does not cover methadone outpatient treatment. They also do not accept Blue Cross Blue Shield. ATCNE offers out of pocket payment for clients who do not have health insurance or who have insurance that the program does not accept to cover methadone treatment. But this is based on a sliding scale based on the income of the client. Clients are required to make their co-payment weekly on
