In the Quran, Surah Al-ma’idah, Verse 5:32 it says ‘فَكَأَنَّمَا قَتَلَ النَّاسَ جَمِيعًا’ which is directly translated to ‘and if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the whole of humanity’. I came across this verse during a debate, and it has since then been on my mind. To me, this verse embodies the idea that to save one’s life, regardless of the impact of that action, equals to more than just saving a life: It means to improve the way in which that person lives. I believe that Pharmacy is a career that can be thought to have built on this concept of saving ‘the whole of humanity’. Pharmacists have a significant impact on people’s day to day lives, whether it concerns the processing of multiple prescriptions and handing them directly to the patient, or private consultations to …show more content…
I watched her being constantly provided with, and utilising different creams and hydrocortisone steroids for her skins, along with phototherapy, and started questioning the reason why certain medication and treatment work for her, while others seem to generate the opposite. As a result, I developed a keen interest in medicines and their production. During my week of work placement at Ashington Way Pharmacy, my recognition for pharmacists and their integral role in society has increased substantially; I was able to observe on a first-hand basis the skills that come with their role as a pharmacist. For instance, the procession of prescriptions, and checking whether the correct medication is being dispensed, are fundamental skills a pharmacist should possess. Additionally, during private consultations, I have learned that while it is important for a pharmacist to be knowledgeable, he/she has to be able to project an aura of reliability and confidence in order for the patient to feel secure, and in extension, improve their lives. I witnessed patients receiving methadone and observed the impact of that aura on

Many children with asthma are too scared to play in case they suffer from a severe asthma attack. Feelings, such as fear, can affect the way we breathe, for example Jonah may breathe at a faster rate when he is scared about participating in PE, and he may take shallower breaths through his mouth. This means that the air has not been warmed in his nose which will then go into his lungs as cold air; this type of breathing could be an asthmatic trigger for Jonah. (Asthma UK, 2015). During an asthma attack, children rely heavily on people around them, to give them their medication and assess how they are; this may leave them feeling helpless and embarrassed.…

Asthma affects the body through bronchospasms; these are unusual narrowing or constrictions of the airways. (Bronchitis, 2015) Another way that asthma can affect the body is the excess production of mucous, this happens when an individual’s bronchial lining is irritated by environmental irritants such as chemical vapors, exhaust fumes or pesticides.…
