Having built a career in economic development over the past 16 years I have had the opportunity to develop strategies and deliver solutions to address a number of economic and community development opportunities and challenges, allowing me to develop a strong skill set that will translate well to those responsibilities of the Associate Dean. These experiences range from working with a large employer to deliver a $21 million tax credit award to assist in facilitating a $300 million expansion project to working with very small communities on grass roots initiatives to bring residents, visitors and new businesses to their downtown. For this reason I am closely engaged with our regional economic development partners to implement the 7 Rivers Region’s Workforce Innovation for a Stronger Economy Plan. This plan identifies best practices that individual employers can adopt as well as collaborative initiatives that business, economic development and education can move forward together. I had the opportunity to take an early leadership role in one such initiative, the recent launch of Inspire 7 Rivers, an online platform links students to employers and work-based learning
