It is hard to see a loved one suffer, but it is even harder to watch them commit suicide. Physician Assisted Suicide is a very popular topic that has been discussed among many people. “Assisted suicide involves one person providing the means and instructions to help another person commit suicide”(WisconsinRightToLife). This is an option that patients have, if they have a deadly illness and has no cure, to end their suffering. There are various types of assisted suicides, multiple reasons why people believe it should illegal, and multiple reasons why it should be legal. Physician assisted suicide should be legal in the United States, so that the patients, who are eligible, have the opportunity to put an end to their suffering if they want to. Euthanasia is a painless way of killing a patient who is suffering from a painful disease that is incurable(WisconsinRightToLife). The patient will die peacefully. There are two types of euthanasia, such as passive euthanasia and active euthanasia(WisconsinRightToLife). I never knew there was more than one type of assisted suicide. “Active euthanasia refers to ending a person’s life by active means, such as with drugs”(HRF.org). This way seems to be painless and the best option if a patient is considering an assisted suicide. It allows the patient to die peacefully.
