Imagine you had leukemia, the doctor just told you that you only have weeks to live. You are in horrendous pain that will never stop. The doctor gives you a option to be euthanized since euthanasia just got legalized in your state. Since you only have weeks to live and you're over 18, you consider the option. If you took the drug you will be free of your pain, but will have less time to live. If you didn't take the drug you will be in excruciating pain, but will have more time with family. Would you want the option to take the drug? Assisted suicide is only legal in 5 states, so not many people have the option. People have always argued over the fact if mercy killings are a humane thing, or that it is unnatural and people should just die naturally.
