Since the dawn of times, mothers gave birth to their baby, and loved the little one with everything, regardless of gender. Parents would be joyous when there was a new addition to the family, and not complain about anything. However, times have changed, birth control was introduced, and now new possibilities emersed. Parents could choose the sex of the baby by undergoing methods that increases the possibility of having that gender. Despite this new opportunity, parents shouldn’t determine the gender of their baby, it could cause many future dilemmas. “Teigen faced an uproar when she announced that she chose to have a female embryo implanted after she and Legend underwent IVF because they had difficulty conceiving.” It is not natural for the parents to determine their baby’s gender, to have the choice could prove unfair. Why is it necessary in the first place? Mothers should love their child regardless of the gender, and be grateful to be able to give birth to a healthy baby. Now, mothers can be selfish, but being selfish could be bad for the embryo. Doctors implant embryos that would be viable in women, and currently, there has been no evidence that this method is unsafe, but no one knows the future. It could cause unique and new diseases that would be difficult to treat/cure.
Currently, there are not a lot of people who actually follow this method, but clinics do have the permit to conduct this practice. Last but not least, the practice is not religiously accepted. The gender of the baby should be determined by god, not to be chosen by the parents. Since the olden days, the sex of the baby would be determined by god, and parents were happy with either gender. Religiously, determining the gender based on one’s bias is not ethical.
Choosing the sex of the baby should not be a choice given to the future parents. With this choice, gender inequality, embryo dangers, and religious dilemmas could arise. In my opinion, these methods shouldn’t ever be used nor manipulated, one never knows what problems could
