Growing old can be a scary thing. Family is saying that you can’t live on your own anymore, but what are the options? Living with family in this era is usually out of the question. Family tend to lean more towards assisted living homes, which have become more of a home away from home in the last few years. Assisted living homes offer anything thing from assisted living, memory care and rehabilitation. The process is easy for the family, butt hard on the person entering the home. You first start out with a tour of the facility to see if it is the right fit. On the tour you will see an array of different rooms and styles to best fit your personal needs. I think some people find moving their things in making it feel more like home, it’s exciting and scary all at the same time. A few hours after moving in the nursing staff will come and do a full body physical, kitchen staff will find out your likes and dislikes and the activities director will come with a scrap booking box to put your name in a shadowbox outside your door . When decorating she will ask questions to see what type of activities would be a good fit for you. The staff will try to make your transition as comfortable as possible. The first few weeks are going to be the hardest in your new home, its likes going to be like entering a new school. The staff and you both learning each other’s schedules and interacting with new people which whom you have never met. A activities director provides a calendar of daily activities there is always three or four things to do at different times of the day. Playing cards, going out to lunch, crafts, also there is also exercise every day at 10:30. You will be reminded of these activities many time throughout the day in addition, there is a weekly church for an array of religions is also available as well as a chauffeur driver on call Monday through Friday. As once being an act director, they are always up for ideas. If you want to play cards , bake cakes or even go to the mall all you have to do is tell the activates director assisted living is all about the things that you want and making you happy
