Abstract
Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) means communicating through gestures, signs or any form of communication excluding speech. This type of communication aids people who are suffering from speech disorders. Assist One is an android based application that enables augmentative and alternative form of communication especially for children suffering from autism, cerebral palsy and many various types of speech disorders. People who are suffering with the mentioned diseases may be either can’t speak or may feel very shy to talk. Our project Assist One is aimed at providing an alternative and augmentative communication tool for the people those who are suffering with the speaking and learning disabilities as autism, cerebral palsy, Down’s syndrome, intellectual disability, aphasia etc. Autistic behavior is a brain disorder which exhibits impairments like lack of social behavior, communication disorders and restricted patterns of nature. The symptoms might be by the time the child reaches the age of 1. The child does not babble or attempt to speak. By the age the child turns 5, it might be felt difficult to speak and lack social interactions.
