As for goal 1 (efficiency, productivity, deadlines), I maintained above-average productivity (+ 15 percent over the unit’s average) despite the transition to one-screen teleworking environment and a marked reduction in the number of FADO documents available for translation. No deadlines were missed. Also, I continued to be available for stand-by duty, both on weekdays and weekends, and readily volunteered to work overtime on all occasions when offered to do so by our coordination officer.

With regard to goal 2 (team spirit), along with five other colleagues, I participated in the group tasked with coming up with activities to consolidate the team-spirit within the unit. I was able to put forward an idea whereby groups of two to four randomly selected colleagues would get together for lunch in the cafeteria. The rationale behind it was to help colleagues get to know each other better in an informal atmosphere as well as help them improve communication, boost their morale and motivation. The idea was met with a very positive feedback and was eventually branded “lunch out of the ordinary”. It was formally adopted as one of the continued activities relating to goal 2 and subsequently implemented on the unit-wide level.
