We must adopt the same principle that John Stuart Mill promoted which is “we as a people have a moral duty to increase good for the greater number of people”.…

People are not going to stop driving their cars, or taking long showers or even eating a lot of meat. Change like that is not going to happen overnight and even though it might be a crime against ourselves and we are ruining the Earth for future generations, there is just not that much that can be done. I do agree that even though individual people might not change their lifestyle, by making big companies that are responsible for a lot of pollution clean up their mess and follow stricter regulations about how much pollution they can produce, we as a planet can slow down the effects…

There are two main viewpoints on any environmental issue, the modernist perspective and the neo-traditionalist perspective. The two perspectives greatly contrast each other, as they take completely opposite sides of the argument in any environmental issue. This was represented in the lecture by Professor Mark Boyer about Considering Environmental Values. For the purpose of this essay, I will specifically be talking about the issue of Climate change, and how both perspectives view this environmental issue. The modernist perspective consists of the optimists, they conclude that our continuous technological advancement is key to future success and will bring about solutions to any problems.…

Though this is true, to me accountability means: letting your actions rise above your excuses, overcome your fear and accept responsibility for the consequences you are accountable for. Accountability is liberating and requires a willingness to answer questions from those people affected by your actions. Accountability means to have the ability to follow through with your commitments you make for yourself or for others. It means honoring, exceeding, and improving standards.…

This dissertation is about accountability in decision-making processes for routine and non-routine settings. The study identifies two research problems linked to each other. The first research problem is the disconnect in the public administration’s literature of the micro (individual) and macro (societal) levels of accountability (Dubnick, 2014) and the conceptualization of accountability primarily for routine contexts. The second research problem is a practical problem related to the individual experience of being accountable for the adoption of unfamiliar hazard mitigation measures in natural hazard mitigation plans.…

This particular issue can only be solved through a singular; comprehensive effort as is laid out in the communitarian approach to citizenship. As Oldfield explains, a community is based on a sense of belonging to a group rather than physical proximity. Should citizens choose to view themselves as not only citizens of their towns and countries, but as citizens of the world and consequently create a global effort to fix the state of the Earth, there will be nothing standing in their way of doing just that. With this communal perspective, it will surely become autonomous for citizens to collectively support environmental sustainability through one strategic plan of action. This communitarian approach to citizenship ultimately results in prompt action regarding this issue without infringing on the individual rights and liberties of the…
