What I have learned through this assignment is that I need to plan on more questions being asked so that I can time better my lesson to the short periods as Sleep Giant Middle School. I also need to take into account that my CT likes to use worksheets as Summative assessments instead of Formative and I plan for that section of the class to take longer than expect therefore, I can’t lag in the beginning of my lesson otherwise I will not be able to have the students finish the activity making it that they need to take the worksheet home with that as homework which I really don’t want to do if at all possible. I feel that if middle to high school students were allowed more time to sleep, it would improve most aspects of their life during school days. I know for sure that on the weekends, when I sleep in, I am in an all around better mood, and I am alert and ready for the day.…

Teenagers and Sleep: Why They Cannot Get Enough Sleep deprivation is a common, dangerously unnoticed problem in many Americans today, especially those involved in work and education (Shaw). However, the problem is severely more apparent in the adolescent population, which can be attributed to the increased need for sleep in adolescents. The reason lies in a multitude of factors- due to environmental factors and the cultural day to day routine, teenagers are inhibited in their nightly rest. As a result, they are sleep deprived and lack the necessary…

My internship is at Sixth Ward Middle School in the Intervention classroom with Mrs. Andrea Landry. This class is designed to help students who are struggling in their core classes. During Intervention we compete incomplete assignments with students, provide extra assistance in all core classes, and build reading and math skills to prepare students for LEAP testing, but we also teach a lesson. However, I learned quickly that our mornings in the classroom never go as planned. There are days that we cannot teach our usual twenty minute lesson because children either need extra time to complete a test from another class or they simply need extra help in another core class so, we make adjustments to our schedule based on each particular class.…
