Assignment 9 Independent Project-Landscape Assignment

This photo was used in assignment 9: Independent Project- landscape. Nearing an end to my landscape project, I was looking back through my photos that I had already taken and found four strong ones but could not find a fifth (five was the required number of photos) to my liking. My goal was to keep consistence with where the images were taken and at the time I was on vacation in Florida. The photo itself was taken at Disney Springs outlet mall, on our last day in Orlando. taken as complete accident, my family and I were walking back to the car from dinner and we came across this beautiful view of the surrounding lake with the setting sun in the background. In that moment I knew that this was it, this was the missing piece to my project.

To the left are picnic tables and to the right is a beautiful flowing creek filled with different animals, plants, and mosses and sometimes quartz crystals. I remember being able to see the fish as they swim underneath the icy cold water because the water is pure and crystal clear- it was not contaminated by human filth. Splashing a trudging through the water made my legs numb but I wouldn’t have had it any other way..…

This natural beauty shows the significance it has on individuals within the country as well as attracting other individuals to the states (which is an American dream). Travelers to the New World in the past were awestruck when they were greeted with such beauty and welcoming, thus sending more individuals. She describes this place as, “A day's journey along the beautiful stream, to a little town named Oregon.” This journal depicts a little town and shows the beauty along with the growth that comes with it.…

Over the course of the 20th century the Pacific Northwest was largely shaped by events that occurred in both the national and international level. In the past the Pacific Northwest was a hinterland and therefore its economy was effected directly by events that occurred outside of the region. This trend continued during the 20th century as well; although the region was not a hinterland any more, it continued to grow and change based on events occurring outside of the region, whether it is global or within the nation. These events affected the region economically, through the depression and multiple wars occurring during this time, and socially through the removal of Japanese and the increased immigration of African Americans.
