1. What does it mean to say a creature is "intelligent?" Describe some of the intelligent behavior of various animals, and compare it to human intelligence: There are many traits that can be considered “intelligent”, but first we have to define what intelligence is. According to the dictionary intelligence is defined as being able to learn skills and apply them to situations. Einstein said, “ The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination.” Socrates said, “ I know that I am intelligent, because I know that I know nothing.” Elephants have the ability to recognize members of their own group, they are self aware, they can draw different images with no training, and they can show sympathy to dying or dead Elephants. Ravens and Crow hold “funerals” for deceased members of their species and can read traffic lights in order to use cars to crush nuts for them. Humans are self aware, humans hold funerals, humans can show empathy, and we can learn skills to apply them to situations.

Why are mammals considered to be Amniotes, given that most mammals do not lay eggs?
