Assignment 3.1: Personal Learning Networks While reflecting on my personal learning networks, I have realized I am not at all where I need to be. I receive monthly publications from Kappa Delta Pi and the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA). I receive frequent e-mails from NSTA and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), as well as from other credible sources. I have realized the immense amount of social media resources and tools out there that can totally magnify my own personal learning network. Our district really does not utilize much social media; however, there are two teachers that have created their own Instagram accounts specifically for the use of students and classroom purposes only. I, personally, incorporate Remind101, which allows parents and students to receive text messages or notifications that remind them what big …show more content…
In order to grow my personal learning network, I plan to do many things this summer here on the island. To begin, I recently created a Twitter account that will allow me to enhance my personal role, such that I will receive the most recent updates, articles, and posts from other credible educational sources. As I have just finished my principal internship, I am confident that I will be able to provide suggestions for next year’s professional development in August. He has addressed some topics at our last staff meeting last week, and also declared that he is open to other possible suggestions, as we have a few months to look into speakers, professionals, or other resources that can help our staff as much as possible. One of the resources I spoke with my principal about today was integrating more technology and social media into our classrooms and district for many reasons.
