One of the points that should be recognized in this amendment is the right of individuals to share their thoughts online with the same discretion as the media. The media often elaborates on the truth and publishes embellishments or false accusations, but the extent to which these publications are believed is up to the viewer. Individuals should be awarded these same liberties on social media, but this does not mean that everything they say will be acceptable. The government shall insist upon each state coming up with their own method of dealing with inappropriate posts that pertain to students and citizens, while individual companies will deal with posts pertaining to their employees. This amendment would not allow people to post anything and everything they want because there will still be consequences, but it will give social media users more protection and clarification on the freedoms they are entitled to. Hopefully, this will also result in more individuals thinking before they post and respecting others online.
