1.1) According to Schrems (2014) vulnerability can mean many things, but one definition of vulnerability is when there is the potential for harm to occur without the ability to protect yourself. I would consider this family vulnerable, especially the new mother, Fatima. As she suffers from post traumatic stress disorder, and safety concerns both inside and outside the home. However, other characteristics or needs that would influence participation in the research study are cultural beliefs, such as a paternalistic household (Shami & Sheika, 2000), language barrier, no local family support, and Fatima’s distrust in medical professionals (Kaakinen, 2015).

It is also runs the risk that once security is threatened, individuals can take control over other systems and servers to get passwords and confidential information (Stine & Scholl, 2010).
1.3) Safeguards that can be used are making sure that there messaging system that is used has been secured, and that information that is sent through the system be encrypted (Stine & Scholl, 2010). Some other safeguards are making sure staff are properly trained and know the policies while using electronic communication. Policies can be implemented so there is certain confidential information can be send, and personal identifies are not used.
1.4) I would agree to use electronic messaging to send private information regarding the Housah-Ibrahim family. I would only do this if there are appropriate safeguards implemented to protect the family’s private information, which Stine & School indicated can be accomplished if companies are attentive to the constant process (2010). Using electronic messaging would provide the ability to send important information to the midwife as soon as possible. Although the research done by Lyngstad et al. (2010), found that communication was not done in a timely way, I feel that in the United States we are more technologically advanced and more inclined to use
