Step 4: Analysis

The block we chose is located on north Main Avenue between northeast 3rd Street and northeast 4th Street. We picked that block because it had a lot of traffic from shoppers, and it met the number of businesses we needed to observe in order to complete our assignment.

There were a wide range of businesses that were selling food on our block, and only a couple of stores that sold products other than something you could consume. We decided that Cafe Delirium, The Hoppy Brewer, and iCandy were complementary to the rest of the shops. We chose those three stores because they all sell side items that go along well with a full meal. Say for instance, a customer stops by and picks up a burger from The LocalCow. Afterwards, they

We were surprised to see the businesses looked well and thriving, and we think it's because of the wide variety of dishes these places serve. Sunny Hans serves Asian food, Nicholas Restaurant serves Lebanese and Mediterranean cuisine, A Cajun Life serves Cajun food, and that's just to name a few.

Between A Cajun Life, and The Hoppy Brewer, we found a small empty store with a sign on the glass door that read Kohler Building and then a phone number. It didn't seem to be a restaurant , it looked too small to hold a big crowd. We thought it could possibly be an office, because offices don't usually take of much space.

Ezequiel suggested putting more *** that cater to pedestrians, like crosswalks and stop signs. Since there is a lot of traffic coming from people walking, biking, and driving in their cars, safety should definitely be a top priority. But other than that, we were pretty satisfied with the way things were there, Almost every shop seemed to be doing well with lots of customers going in and out. I appreciated how everything was well kept and pleasant to look at with all the decorations that were put up. I also appreciated how they had lights displayed at the tops of the buildings that turn on at night to illuminate the streets for

In the 1984 Baltimore County Master Plan two large developments were created based off of the creation of Interstate 795 and 95. One development, White Marsh, is located on the eastern side of the county and the other Owings Mills, is located in the northwestern section. Both of these developments were similar and were located near the highways and public transit systems but slightly different because luxury tenants were occupying the Owings Mills Mall. The Owings Mills and White Marsh commercial areas were originally developed to give incentives for private development with hopes of growth and prosperity in those areas of the County. The Owings Mills area was specifically targeted as potentially prosperous because its location was by a major highway and a metro station and two local private schools were within 15 minutes, which gave incentive for future development.…

The Heard Museum The Heard museum was founded in 1929 by Dwight and Maie Heard, and has become internationally recognized for its collections, education programs, and festivals. The museum prides itself on portraying Native arts and culture in a sensitive and accurate way, while telling the story of American Indian people with art. I had no preconceived ideas about the museum, I knew a lot about Native Indians, First Nations peoples in certain tribes, but I also knew there is more to learn, therefore, like in any other new experience, I approached it with an open mind. As the tour began, it was explained that the Native Indians lands in Arizona once encompassed the entire state and more. However, their lands currently only cover a small percentage…

Panopticism, a system that induces in its subjects an eery feeling that one is being surveyed but can’t definitely say from where. We’ve all experienced this feeling, whether it be from a school, a church, or your own home, and that feeling has inevitably influenced our decisions. I have personally experienced this feeling many times, but my most relevant example would probably be working at The Pittsburgh Stop. On the corner Forbes and Bigelow Boulevard right between Hillman Library and the William Pitt Union, there is an outside vendor called The Pittsburgh Stop.…

Esquire Department Store was established in 1996 by Arthur Babbit, Sr. After nearly twenty years of business the store has recently began to experience a decline in sales. Management has noticed that over time the movement of customers between departments has also decreased, suggesting that the current facility layout may be the cause. The present layout was designed with the concept of locating related departments close to each other accessible from one main aisle through the center of the store. While this proved successful in the past, the service environment has changed and Esquire needs to adapt to the changes.…
