2. Was Genesis a literal account i.e. did it really happen?
The word "Genesis" is Greek for "Origins". The book of Genesis was a literal account on the events of creation. The earth was created in six days and the Lord rested on the seventh. Genesis is comprised of two sections: primitive history and patriarchal history.
Primitive history records events about creation, the Fall of Man, the Flood, and the dispersion. Patriarchal history provides details about the lives of four men, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Joseph, alongside, it foretells of the coming of Christ.
Moreover, because Genesis is a literal account of that time period, it means what was written is correct and not symbolic. In other words, the universe was made is six days, woman were made from man, and there was an actual fruit involved in the Fall, alongside, the Ark was built and there were 40 days and nights of rain.
