Organizational Leader Analysis

Assessment of an Organizational Leader Over the last 12 years, ever since I was 14 years old, I have had a job. Each one of those jobs I had a boss or someone that was considered a leader of the business, someone who people turned too for advice, problems, or guidance. Many of those leaders where good leaders that I respected and followed, some not so much, some lacked effective communication and didn’t know how to efficiently lead and or communicate to employee 's in a respectful manner. About two and a half years ago I was hired as a server at a restaurant called the Steakhouse, the person who hired me was a woman named Ashley. Ashley is the manager of the Steakhouse, while Frank is the general manager, we never really see him much …show more content…
Overall I would say she has a Democratic style of leadership while also showing Laissez-Faire leadership styles also. When there 's ever a problem between employees or employees and guests Ashley always listened to both side the bad and the good. She listens to both sides the of the story before she makes any decisions on the outcome of the problem. When problems do arise she also shows the Laissez-Faire leadership style as well. “When the workplace is ready for democratic leaders, the style produces an environment that employees can feel good about. Workers believe their opinion counts, and because of that feeling they are more committed to achieving the goals and objectives of the organization” (Money-zine). I believe this is exactly the atmosphere Ashley provides at work, creating a positive atmosphere, but there are always downsides to leaders as no one is …show more content…
Before every night shift, we do a line up behind the house, where all the servers, bussers, and supervisors on duty for the night get together, and she will give us a little pep talk before we get a rush. She is very good at getting moral up within the business while also bringing to attention any problems that are happening in the restaurant, which is be employee 's having a drink on the clock, which is pretty common in restaurants, especially family owned ones, since even the manager like to drink and eat, hence why the are in the industry themselves. But things can get taken advantage of and she does and excellent job finding that middle ground between whats acceptable, along with when it is and when it is not acceptable to do so. “Bosses often say, ‘Can you have that report to me? It’s really important, and I’d really like to have it,’” Friedman says. A more effective way to deliver that message: “Can you please get that report to me? I’d like it on my desk by 5 p.m. Friday.” (Forbes) This is a perfect example of how Ashley goes about showing her effective communication, instead of being very direct and demanding, she asks for things and for tasks to be done in a very polite manner, she does ask in a very dictator sense, which I highly respect. It makes me feel a lot better at work and a lot more motivated to complete the task

Grooming Leaders Discussion According to Smith (1992), “The church has a higher potential for growth if the pastor is a leader more than he is an administrator. A leader, as the next pair of labels indicates, is a visionary; while an administrator is an implementer of someone else’s vision. A church growth pastor is a goal-setter; less growth potential is predicted for a pastor with the self-image of an “enabler”, who encourages the lay people to set the goals. To use an industrial model, the pastor who tends to be more a manager type than a foreman type will enhance the growth possibilities for the church” (p. 98).…

Working for a law enforcement agency whether you are a certified officers or a civilian supervisor. All personnel take an oath and have a duty to protect and serve. We as Americans tend hold law enforcement personnel higher standard because we hope they have the moral virtue to do what is right and lead by example to make a unit run efficiently. However, when a leader is a psychological egoist with a utilitarian view, many times he/she tips the scales of right and wrong in order to give their subordinates what they desire to make them happy, content and submissive. Even if this means allowing the subordinates are not following policies or protocols that the agency puts in place.…
