Ethical Decision-Making Model: A Case Study

This paper will demonstrate and describe over the course of seven weeks how diagnosis, assessment, and treatment plans help to avoid relapse leading to a successful recovery. Counselors may come into contact with a substance abuse client through the community, special events, engagements, public places such as grocery stores, and counseling or other social groups. Also it will discuss a Counselor-Client relationship and the importance of boundary crossing versus boundary violations. Which may cause a counselor to slightly alter their ethical decision-making when pertaining to one or more of the seven step models applied to the ACA endorses a Practitioner’s guide to ethical Decision Making (Forester-Miller & Davis, 1996). Therefore, mandated, unavoidable and avoidable situations should require a counselor to implement the ethical decision making model to alleviate any ethical, professional, legal, and clinical issues. When facing boundary crossing or boundary violations a counselor should seek advice from his/her clinical supervisor.
