Assata's Influence On Health

I was born on January 23, 1993. It is interesting to know that controversies and conflicting issues trailed our society at that time, same way they do now. On the day of my birth, three important issues occurred. First, President Clinton removed five restrictions on abortion placed by previous administrations. The promulgation laid the foundation of a liberal America where people are allowed to live their lives as freely as possible. As a Muslim, this law is quite significant to my faith as abortion is forbidden in Islam. However, this trend goes to show how globalization and awareness have been shaping our thoughts and making us less inclined to our religious beliefs. Second, it was reported that Zoe Baird was unable to be confirmed as Attorney General due to her ties with illegal immigration. Her understanding of how the world works is undoubtedly instrumental in helping her make decisions concerning her wellbeing. Assata views childbirth as a symbol of hope. However, this view can be said to be forged due to the circumstances which she found herself. In the conventional American culture, pregnancies conceived under harsh conditions like that faced by Assata may be aborted due to its effect on the health of the mother. Aside from that, the American culture is indifferent to abortion, but same cannot be said of Assata’s mindset towards it. As a revolutionary who was against the traditional mindset of Americans, she showed a different approach to the concept of abortion. By insisting that her pregnancy should not be aborted irrespective of its effect on her health, Assata was able to display her ideology towards abortion.
