The year 2022 begins with a war between Lebanese Hezbollah and Israel. Similar to the 2006 war between LH and Israel, Israel implemented a naval blockade of Lebanon. In addition, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) unleashed unrestricted air strikes on Lebanon, including targets such as: civilian city centers, road, bridges, and SAM sites. The air strikes result in thousands of Lebanese civilian casualties. Furthermore, Mossad, the Israeli Special Forces division of the IDF, attempts several assassination attempts on the LH leader, Hassan Nasrallah, and finally succeeds. The assassination of Nasrallah sparks numerous retaliatory rocket and mortar attacks against Israel, causing the death of hundreds of Israeli citizens.
