This section of the analysis will be based on observations from Amy Dowson’s year three class at Kingsley Primary school, Armadale.
3.0 Environment
The classroom environment is one that promotes acceptance, communicate and allows for various styles of learning. Upon entering the room, it is noticed that there are several different learning areas of the room. The desks are in rows, allowing for independent work, there is a reading corner with bean bags, there is a guided reading corner, as well as having space around the room for small group learning activities. Another important aspect of the environment is the mat at the front of the room for explicit teaching times, so that the whole class can sit and focus.
This environment allows for easy accessibility to all areas of the room as well as encourages ownership of learning. This environment caters for variation of instruction and has whole class, small group and individual work places. Having the teacher’s desk in the …show more content…
There are many students who are excelling at their work and understanding concepts quickly. On the other hand, there are students who cannot keep up with an average workload and need extra guidance and assistance. This is accommodated by teaching to the majority of the class at an average level, with extra support for those who do not understand and excel activities for early finishers and those who grasp the concepts. In terms of social and emotional development, there are a few students who do stand out. Majority of the class have matured in alignment to their age, yet there is one student, Jaylah who is not at the maturity level of the other students. She tends to be ‘needy’ and wanting of attention even though she knows the work and what has to be done. Jaylah also has a tendency to believe when people are talking quietly, they are talking about her. This shows an immaturity in her social and emotional
