Task I : Pride and Prejudice
During the classics project, I’ve chosen to read the book Pride and prejudice (1813) by Jane Austen . I wasn’t there when the other students chose their books so I was sort of in a rush when finding one for myself. To be honest, I chose it because it was relatively short and I had heard the name of both the author and the book before, which woke up my curiosity. Though I had no expectations and thought I was going to have to force myself to enjoy it, I got a pleasant surprise when that was not the case.

The panic had now reached her lungs and breathing was a harder task. How on earth did this happen? How could a book just decide to eat her? She stood there for a moment trying to process if this was even real. She opened the door and took a few steps into the room on her naked feet.
The little room was dirtier than any place she had been to before. Windows needed polishing, floors needed cleaning and the whole room had a certain lack of colour, making it kind of dark and depressing. In the corner of the room sat a little girl on her age, crying her eyes out.
“Hey, you”, she said in a voice as calm as she could in a situation like this.
The girl looked up at her and revealed a pair of big blue eyes and tons of freckles. The blue-eyed girl opened her mouth as to say something and let it remain open while her eyes brushed over Charlottes clothing and body a couple of times.
“Where am I?”, Charlotte continued and tried to push a smile up her cheeks.
“You’re… on board my father’s ship … but how’d you?” she stuttered and let her mouth remain open again. How Charlotte had ended up inside the book she had not got the slightest idea of herself, but she’d always wanted to be there in the books she read, so she manned up and decided to make the best of it. And there it was. Her death. This was now the end and she could no longer control her breath at all. Shouting pirates, Kathrin bargaining with her father and her own heart beating was so loud she could even think.
Now everything started happening a lot quicker. Charlotte was pushed to the end of the plank and had almost fallen when Kathrin came running to her. Charlotte looked at her with huge eyes while Kathrin’s father shouted at them both.
Kathrin took her hand and before she had even thought about it, they jumped. Together.
Her face and back was covered in cold sweat when she woke up and sat up in her bed. The book had fallen on the floor during the night. On the wall in front of her was her favourite quote from the book Matilda.
“The books transported her into new worlds and introduced her to amazing people who lived exciting lives. She went on olden-day sailing ships with Joseph Conrad. She went to Africa with Ernest Hemingway and to India with Rudyard Kipling. She travelled all over the world while sitting in her little room in an English Village” – Roald dahl,
