Another of the 4 Ps of creativity is the creative person. According to Ng (2007, p. 16-26), there are ten characteristics of the creator. One of the characteristics is that the creators are independent and confident of themselves. It is perhaps the most important characteristic as conceiving original idea is not good enough. The idea eventually has to be materialised, and the process will be met with obstacles as it is unconventional and defies social norms. Such characteristic is nurtured by the environment creators are born into. It is more likely to develop such characteristic in an individualistic society than a collectivistic society.
Given the social context, Asians can be said to be less creative than Westerners. However, it is only true if the cultures are not exerting any influence on each other. A process known as globalization, where cultures influence one another through trade, immigration, and the exchange of information and ideas, has been taking place for many centuries. In the modern world, globalization is taking place at an accelerated pace due to the rapid advancement of communication technology (Arnett, 2002).
