This is a major issue which threatens a person's life. My aunt has suffered through depression due to this reason. She used to work at a clothing store in a white neighborhood, when she started experiencing discriminating and racism acts. She said white people would always stereotypes that because she was Indian, “she loved curry, put the bindi dot on her head, worshiped cows, she was smelly like her Indian food, mocked her Indian accent, and she was cheap and stingy because she never took a day off of her work.” If you hear this everyday about yourself, when half of the stuff is not true, it can make you think you are all of those things. First, she hated Curry, She never ate curry so that stereotype of her loving curry was false to begin with. She was born and brought up in India, so therefore she had an Indian accent. As it was stated in the article Smells Like Racism, it was so ridiculously stated that, “personally was 'linguistically gifted' with an 'American accent' (Stehi,1993 pp.143). She used to spray herself every second, because she always thought she smelled like Indian food. This literally drove her to depression. She was so sad at work, she would always cry, and she eventually quit when it was too hard to handle. Every time I see her today, I feel terrible, she has completely changed. She has suffered a lot emotionally, mentally, and physically. Therefore, I believe that health care of an Asian American individual related directly to the environmental factors; whether they are living in all white community, all Indian community, etc. If my aunt worked in an Indian neighborhood, she would have never suffered through
