For instance, one of my white American pal would consider that there are many differences between the Asian American and the Chinese students. They would believe an Asian American is not as conservative as a Chinese student, and addition to the accent, Asian Americans are not just only may have more American culture/custom on themselves, but also it is quite different on social aspect that compared with Asian American, the Chinese international students are likely to stay in their own group that just includes Chinese people. From my view of point, I am a Chinese student in DU and occasional treated as an Asian American as long as my accent is not too bad because I accept/know more American cultures and customs than typical Chinese students here. Universities, which might be the outcome of its economic bloom in past decades and worsening academic abilities in Chinese Universities. I am happy about that my countries are becoming more strong in economy, but meanwhile I feel sad about the poor advanced education in my country’s education system, as well as the serious political corruption that helps some political figures illegally obtain millions of dollars to pay expensive tuition of studying in U.S. Furthermore, many ordinary people view the increasing number of Chinese students at U.S. Universities as a sign of Chinese superpower economy because of luxurious cars they drive, top universities they go to, and others expenses that a typical American college student can’t afford. On other hand, quite number of people believe this phenomenon is destroying or worsening the U.S. academic environment in the ways of cheating, having a luxurious life, and other negative academic influences. Nevertheless, I think these imagines on the Chinese students at U.S. Universities are incomplete. As Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie says in “The danger of a signal story” on TED TALKS, the signal story gives people incomplete information. As a Chinese student at DU, I believe that not all of Chinese students in DU are driving BMW, Porsche, and other luxurious vehicles.
