Ashley stepped out of the cab and gaped at the splendid but slightly intimidating mansion that towered over her. Dark clouds brewed overhead and a flash of lightning pierced through, ripping the shadowed sky into pieces. Was this a symbol, Ashley wondered, a sign?
Apprehensively, she approached the door and knocked vigorously. The oak door creakily opened and there stood the charming suave Xavier. He guided Ashley to his spacious living room that exhibited unique antiques from his adventures. Ashley perched on the edge of her chair while Xavier began to narrate his story.

The Grandfather clock struck midnight as they descended the stairs to the cellar. The air grew cold and shadows deepened until finally they reached the bottom. Suddenly Ashley heard a muffled growl and she began to tremble violently. There before her in the cell was a pile of straw, that moved slowly. The growl grew louder as the straw parted and a ghastly creature crouched as though ready to pounce.
It had gnarled limbs and a wrinkled back. The body bent like a hideous hairless monkey. The black leathery lips drew back in a loud snarl, revealing yellow pointed teeth and a darting moist red tongue. It stared intensely at her with its dark soulless eyes and then its arm raised up to her level and pointed at her, its nails all sharp and bruised, fresh blood dripping from it. Tap, tap, tap.
