The Lost Children of Sudan should remain in Sudan because they need to repair their country. Neighboring countries and continents should aid them with their problems and be more involved to prevent the wars that are producing child soldiers. Even though Sierra Leone is more than 9,100 km away from Somalia, the two countries face similar problems of poverty and civil warfare brought on by severely limited natural resources, dramatically low wages, and environmental hardship. Throughout the arid continent, there is a sinister demand for child soldiers as they are recruited by groups which both take part in the raiding of peaceful civilizations with families. As Ishmael Beah described in his memoir A Long Way Gone, the unavoidable choice given to a great number of African children is to either kill and take or forfeit what you have and perish. However, Beah also states with assurance, “ . . . children have the resilience to outlive their sufferings, if given a chance.”…

This overwhelmingly long period of fighting displaced tens of thousands of young children across the Sudan. It forced them to walk through dangerous wilderness and deserts in search of safety, their families, and food to keep them alive. All of this fighting stemming from the South Sudanese people wanting their independence from the enforcement of harsh new rules from northern elites. Before the South Sudanese people were able to gain their independence from the north, the George W. Bush administration created a network of support the help the South gain their much needed independence. “President Bush appointed former Senator John Danforth as the first of the US special envoys for this region and Danforth played a major role in helping bring about the CPA and South Sudan’s right of self-determination” (“The United States and South Sudan” 4).…

Article 38: Governments must do everything they can to protect and care for children affected by war. Governments must not allow children under the age of 15 to take part in war or join the armed forces. I strongly believe that child soldiers under 18 should be given amnesty because of these three reasons: • Most of the children are forced into being soldiers • The child soldiers can’t leave once they are recruited • If they don’t follow orders they are killed and new kids are recruited against their will. A number of child soldiers today are difficult to distinguish, the UN estimates that some 300,000 children are involved in more than 30 conflicts worldwide today child soldiers should be given amnesty because most of these children…
