One of Aschenputtel’s best traits is her generosity. Her generosity is demonstrated she sings, “The good must be put in the dish, the bad you may eat if you wish”(P.750). This quote shows how generous Aschenputtel is because even though she doesn’t have to give anything to the birds, she still wants to give them something in return for their help. She couldn’t give the birds all the lentils since she had to return them to the stepmother, but she still gave the birds as much as she could give. Her cleverness shows when she escaped from the prince, “...she had got down the other side of the tree and had taken back her beautiful clothes…”(P.752). Aschenputtel reveals her cleverness in this quote because she had to figure out a way to get away from the prince, hide her clothing, and be in the house all before her stepmother and stepsisters got back from the feast. Her ability to think on her feet was demonstrated again when she, “...had been very quick and had jumped out of the pigeon house…”(P.751). This quote also demonstrates Aschenputtel being clever because every time she had to get home without anyone knowing who she was she somehow thought of a way to sneak away.
