Asbestos is a naturally occurring substance found in fibrous form. It is very resistant to heat and chemical erosions and it also has a very good tensile strength. As it is usually mixed with other materials to use, so it is very hard to recognize. But if you are working in a building made before 1990, some parts of it would contain asbestos. Asbestos was used widely in building materials such as to make fireproofing on walls and ceilings, floor tiles, cement pipes, cement boards and a lot more. Crocidolite is the most dangerous form of asbestos. It occurs as naturally formed, long, sharp and straight bundles. It is blue in color and is harder and more brittle than many of the other types of minerals. It is very easily breakable and releases very lethal needle like fibers that are easily inhaled. It was used to make yarns, lagging and reinforced plastics (to enhance their properties). It is not only one of the dangerous minerals among the six other components but also the world’s most dangerous mineral although it has poor heat-resistant properties. It was mostly mined in Australia, south Africa and Bolivia in the past but its production was strongly ceased after the incident that occurred in the town of Wittenoom in western Australia, between 1943 and 1966, where more than 1000 miners and residents died due to mesothelioma and other diseases caused by mining this mineral. Exposure to Crocidolite causes mesothelioma and many other lung diseases. Crocidolite is made of sharp fibers which are most dreadful to human
