In the Automotive Industry using a grinder is an important part of a technician's work. Their are some safety features the technicians need to take before grinding. It's a cancer that occurs inside the lungs. This illness can be inhaled and can do some damage to the human body. “Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral that once was lauded for its versatility, recognized for its heat resistance, tensile strength and insulating properties, and used for everything from fire-proof vests to home and commercial construction. There has been cases of people in the automotive industry that have been exposed to asbesto. The way a technician gets asbesto is by inhaling dust particles from drum brakes and clutch assemblies. “Data was presented by investigators from the Mount Siani school of medicine in NYC indicating that workers engaged in the maintenance and repair of car and truck brake linings are exposed to potentially hazardous levels of airborne asbestos dust” (para, 2). Once an automotive technician come to work for a shop they are going to face working around dust particles. The particles are hazardous but they won't damage the person who is taking the correct safety procedures. It's even worse because dust particles are not visible. “An analysis of samples of brake drum dust revealed that almost all of the asbestos fibers found were shorter than .4 microns in length” (para, 2). Not being able to see the dust can be hazardous because if someone can't see that something bad is in the air they won't inhale. “During brake servicing an air purifying respirator either single use or with replaceable particulate filters, as approved by the Mining Enforcement and safety administration” (pg, 3). This would prevent asbestos dust just floating around the shop. It keeps the workers safe and customers if they are in the shop. “During manual clutch servicing, such as a respirator shall be worn during removal and cleaning of the clutch, pressure plate and
