Asa Gray Picnic Research Paper

I had the pleasure of attending the first Asa Gray picnic of the year. The activity was supposed to be held at Utica College’s Rose Garden from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm on September thirtieth, but it regrettably was rained out, and the event was instead held in the Donahue Auditorium at the same time and on the same day. I had a lot of fun at this activity, and I look forward to attending more Asa Gray meetings in the future due to this event. After much deliberation on my part, I ultimately decided to participate in this activity because it seemed like fun, and I wanted to meet some of the other science majors. In the beginning, I had no intention of going to the picnic, but my twin sister Skylar is a biology major, so it was mandatory for her …show more content…
It was fun talking to other science majors, and I even met another person named Olivia! I never presented my juggling in front of other people that I didn’t really know before, so that was different, but fun. I didn’t feel too awkward juggling in front of others, though, due to the fact that I have grown accustomed to presenting my schoolwork to my classmates over the years. In addition, I was able to meet several members of the Biology Department. Even though I’m not taking biology currently, nor in the near future, it could still be beneficial to me to know the professors in this department, considering the fact that I may have them when I’m a little older. I also saw painted box turtles! Although my high school ecology teacher, who’s also my third cousin, had hermit crabs, fish, and even a rabbit in her room as class pets, I’ve never seen a classroom that had painted box turtles, until I peered into one of the glass cases in the lab room that I had to go into in order to get snacks. I love animals, and I stopped to watch the turtles swim, and they were adorable! The snacks were incredible as well. I had a few muffins and chips, as well as a packet of grape Kool-Aid, which I haven’t had the pleasure of drinking in quite a long time. My favorite part was talking to other science majors, and I was overjoyed to juggle

For my Intergenerational Service-Learning Project I chose option B. I thought that this was the best choice for me because it gave me the chance to be creative and hands on. I typically enjoy activities and learning in a more hands on setting, so I figured that I would get more out of the project by choosing this option. So, I guess the choice was very easy, but figuring out who I would work with and what we would do was the hard part. The gentleman that I chose to work with on this project name is Roscoe Farrell.…

I’m currently seeking representation for my YA novel, ANOMALOUS. I chose to query you personally because you rep one of my favorite authors, Holly Lisle, and she gave a rave recommendation on you as an agent on her website. Given your interest in science fiction, I thought it might be a good fit for your list. When Brinya Greyson was thirteen the visions began. Now, three years later, she is fully aware that her ability to dream, a forbidden old world human trait, could be the very thing that gets her dubbed defective.…

It was late November on the day of the Egg Bowl in 2014. Mississippi State fans from all over Mississippi were traveling to Oxford to witness the Bulldogs to take on the Rebels. Just two days after Thanksgiving, it was a crisp and cold fall day. At the current time, I was more of a State fan over Ole Miss fan, so on that day I happened to be warmly dressed in maroon. Little did I know, dressing in maroon would turn out to be a horrible idea.…

It was April 15th, 2013 and I was the 15-year-old, innocent sophomore with a perfect record, sitting in the principal’s office waiting for my punishment. I plastered a fake smile on my bright red face, trying not to let the tears filling my blue eyes get the best of me. My mom always used to tell me that I should rule a small country one day, and I would look at her and say, “What? You don’t think I can handle the world?”.…

The CADA Conference was very influential on me and my beliefs on how to create a better community on campus. I noticed many different things on my trip to the Del Mar Fairgrounds. These students at this event relate to us, because of their leadership skills, school spirit, and creative ideas. The main things I learned from the experience is how to generate school spirit, create engaging events, and how to be the best you can be.…

It was a definite change of scenery to be immersed in nature with lush greenery, crisp air, and ocean views instead of the normal classroom scene. I liked that this experience was a chance to interact with my colleagues and learn who they are on a personal level subsequent to grading their three-minute stories the previous Fridays. From this hiking experience, I learned the value of teamwork, effective communication, and what encompasses wholesome leadership as well as what can transpire when there is no leadership. As like all experiences, there are some parts I cherished and others not as much.…
