The one hundred and twenty-ninth page of the Every Student Succeeds Act states that the performing arts and visual arts are included in the core classes. This means that unless the act is repealed, the removal of fine arts from public schools is illegal.
"Fine arts instructors unemployed due to budget cuts." This might be a news headline that one might see if the arts are cut out of schools. There are many schools in the United States, and each has at least one instructor in the fine arts area. If the arts were eliminated, all of those teachers would be left without a job.
The fine arts can also help students to complete other courses, as well as prevent them from dropping out of school. The National Endowment for the Arts conducted a study which showed that exposure to the arts lead to better school performance, better jobs, and an increase in civic engagement. If exposed to the fine arts, a student with low income will have a course-completion probability ten percent greater than that of a student with no art experience. The arts also help prevent students who have disadvantages in school or the economy to not drop out of their opportunity to get an education. This opportunity is among the students' many
