The students will watch a one-and-a-half-minute video about Mount Fuji, “Mount Fuji: Fun Fact series EP09 Mocomi Kids” (Mount Fuji: Fun Fact series EP09, Mocomi Kids, n.d.). The students will continue the culture learn experience by going on a faux hike up Mount Fuji, where we will pause and learn how to use chopsticks. Upon returning to the classroom the students will learn about the three things to fear in nature, in japan, and be able to touch a real kimono dress. They will listen to a reading about No play, and sumo wrestling. Student will learn how to paint the Japanese character “How many.” Then they will listen to a reading about the regions of Japan, a traditional Japanese marriage ceremony. This lesson uses the book “Count Your Way Through Japan,” to explore the Japanese culture. This book is a piece of art, the author took the time to allow the reader the ability to explore the Japanese culture in a written format. In this book there are many piece of art work (pictures) that explain the concepts being presented in the written form. Videos are another form of art used to allow the student in this learning lesson to learn with art. The videos used, give the student a better picture (visual) of the information learned about in the book. The second method of learning is learning through art. In this method, the students are encouraged to express their understanding of a subject through the use of some form of art. The first place in this learning lesson this method is used is taking the faux hike up Mount Fuji. Here the student acts out what they may do on a hike up this mountain.
