While science does not reach a consensus on the answer to that question, the ideal is to apply the concept of consciousness to food consumption. Give preference to fresh food when developing the menu is a healthy option for the individual and for the planet. And if someone wants to sweeten your drink, avoiding refined sugar and also aspartame, that there are other substances sweeteners and foods, but also have their disadvantages, remember Carlos Alberto Werotsky (2005) "If people want to choose, can use fructose, which is 1.5 times sweeter than sugar, but as he is so caloric," says the doctor. Also, as an alternative to aspartame, has been identified with increasing frequency stevia, a natural sweetener produced from a plant of the chrysanthemum family. Studies have been conducted on this sweetener and, to date, no toxicity was observed. The market also offers substitutes such as honey, brown sugar and organic sugar. In the case of the latter two, despite having similar to refined caloric value, are healthier and more sustainable because they are less processed food than regular sugar and thereby arrive at least body "broken" in the language used by Dr. Akiyama. Force minus the body, causing no large concentrations of phenylalanine and aspartic acid in the blood, and possibly healthier in the long run. But, unfortunately, there is still a consensus view among scholars on this subject. Runs the risk or not? Choice of each one. Good

Experiment 11: Peptides and Amino Acids The purpose of this experiment was to study the amino acid composition of artificial sweeteners and then observe simple acid and base catalyzed reactions of the amino acid and artificial sweetener aspartame. This was achieved by performing a TLC analysis using ninhydrin as an indicator to observe the composition of the amino acid as well as two of the components that make up aspartame. This is followed by the addition of an acid or base to aliquots of diet sodas to examine the resulting reactions and compare them to a known hydrolyzed aspartame sample. The most common method of synthesizing amides is through the reaction of a primary or secondary amine with a carboxylic acid derivative.…

Tartrazine, saccharin, BHT, and sodium nitrate: typical ingredients you will find in foods in a stroll down any supermarket aisle. I have always pondered about the effects of such additives that are prevalent within food. One would think that the long-standing existence of such substances would validate their safety, yet, I remain doubtful due to the controversy and safety concerns of their usage. During my middle school years, while on a school-run food interest trip, I was enlightened to the significance of ingredients and nutrition in foods. One of the activities was to differentiate between freshly squeezed fruit juice and artificially flavored fruit drinks by scrutinizing the ingredients and nutritional labels as well as by taste testing.…

Some food scientists would argue that sugar provides more functions to a food than just sweetness, and one cannot easily replace sugar with a substitute as you would lose those other functions such as proper mouthfeel and humectant ability. Others would claim that there are other additives that can mimic those functions and even work with the sweetener to provide desirable sensory characteristics. There has been fear surrounding the topics of health risks and weight management, as well as concern over product development when it comes to using aspartame, but overall it is useful for the food industry and at the levels consumed by humans pose no health risks and will not be a direct cause to weight…
