Reflection of Knowledge and Skills of APS (synthesis): I believe that APS 10 is a very important APS. It states the characteristics of what an effective teacher should have. I think a lot of teacher have these intentions at the beginning and it slowly starts to fade away. It is important that teachers constantly remind themselves of why they decided to teach. Teachers help build the foundation to students’ education so we have a major job and role to fill. Teachers should do more positive communication with students, parents, and staff rather than being negative. I know of a lot of teachers who dread talking to parents because the parents are “crazy” and they don’t understand how their child really is. In situations like that, teachers still …show more content…
It is a great way for teachers to communicate with parents about what is going on in the classroom.

Artifact Reflection: I really enjoyed creating a newsletter. I just used the template layout from my clinical I teacher. I filled in everything using the SC state standards. I included my email address at the top so that parents had a way to communicate with me. I used the school mascot, an owl, to make it a little fancier. I wanted to make sure I stayed with the owl theme as much as possible by saying things such as “Dates to give a hoot about, Owl-Ways Be Inspired, Owl- Star Homework, and Bright Owl for the week. Dates to give a hoot about is about fun and important things that are happening in the classroom and the entire school. Owl-Ways be inspired are book suggestions that I thought would be great reads. The book suggestions relate to special holiday’s that are approaching or something that is related to what we are discussing in class. Owl-Star Homework is the work that I would plan on sending home with the students. That way the parents see that they have homework that is due. Lastly the Bright Owl of the week is for a a special students who worked hard the week before. I think this would help the students to feel special and to show that I pay attention. I think for students to really care and want to be the Bright-Owl for the week, the teacher has to make it a big deal. I like the

The greatest barrier for student success lies between teacher-parent communication. Ultimately, many teachers instantly claim the lack of parental involvement as a deficiency which hinders positive reinforcement. Susan Graham-Clay attempts to provide adequate information for teachers to begin their positive relationship with parents in her article, Communicating with Parents: Strategies for Teachers. Graham-Clay states the issue originates with teacher’s lack of training to efficiently and positively engage with parents. In recent years, education professionals recognized the import role parents play in the school environment and now urge teachers to interact with parents very early in the year.…

As I research more my topic of teachers’ part in moral and character development, I related to the statement on page 149, “like it or not, who we are and what we do impact our students. By virtue of being the teacher, our words, actions, nonverbal communication, and attitudes become part of every academic lesson we plan and implement, as well as every teacher-student encounter and interaction”. This is really the mic-drop statement for my project II paper, the crux of why I chose this topic. None of us is perfect as a person and students get to the point where they realize that, but they spend so much time with their teachers, nearly as much as with their own families, that teachers need to always be cognizant of what is being said and done, left unsaid and undone, leading by example, modeling appropriate behaviors in and out of instruction. I refer again to the teacher interviews I did as this was a question I covered with them as well: do you think how you live outside of school affects how you are as a teacher?…

Education Majors Teachers have the ability to educate, challenge, and expand the minds of children who will shape and refine the world’s future. They inspire students to become scientists who may discover a cure for cancer, doctors that will save lives, or athletes who will break records. Children depend on teachers to provide them with every opportunity to become great, which is why earning a teaching certificate should not be an easy process. Today, one has to pass the Praxis test, obtain a 3.0 GPA, and complete the assigned college courses to earn a teaching certificate. Due to these simple requirements, unqualified college graduates are becoming ineffective teachers that are failing to assist their students in the right direction.…

I couldn 't imagine being a teacher. What teacher 's do is so incredible that I couldn 't even comprehend what it 's like to get up and teach in front of a class for an hour and a half. It sounds so strenous to me, yet teachers do it! Teachers change people for the better, and for that we all should be genuinely grateful. When it comes to your child’s education, it’s natural to want the best. Private schools are a great option for students because of a lower student to teacher ratio and because the curriculum challenges children to put forth their best effort. If you are like most parents, then you know the best education for your child will likely come from a private school. Your child must take the Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT) to get admitted, which can be time-consuming. Additionally, your child could perform poorly as a result of lack of preparation and the stress of the test if you don't take steps to help them with understanding the SSAT.…

Once the alpha in the hierarchy of education, The United States formed its niche on the highest tier in the rostrum. The American Education System is considered to be ranked 36th in the world wide ranks of education systems as of 2013 (Coleman). This ranking indicates that there is a major problem with the American Education System. Though many people believe that reform must come in the form of larger budgets this is not the case, money actually does not have a direct link with student performance (Robinson). The reform for the American Education System needs to come in the form of teachers with more will and want to help, focusing on the true needs of students and shifting the focus from testing to real learning. From the start, teachers have had one of the biggest impacts on a student’s education experience.…

There are three paradigms for how teachers should interact with students and their families. The first one is the separation paradigm which means that the parents give the responsibility of their child 's education to the school and makes the school responsible for their children’s results. I experienced this in my high school child development class with the preschool. There was a student who would act out in class and would never do his work so my teacher got in contact with his parents about this and blamed in on the schools program and my teacher. I do not agree with this one for the reason that it puts all the blame on the teacher and gives no responsibility to the parents.…

“A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning”. (Brad Henry) Not every person can be a teacher; it takes a certain kind of individual to be a teacher. Some qualities that teachers consume are patient, kindness, passionate, knowledge, and heart, also there are other many formal qualities that a teacher must need to be successful. At twelve years old in seventh grade I had this teacher that inspired me to become a teacher and ever since then, becoming a teacher has been a priority.…
