It is a fairly newer anesthetic agent given in a 4% solution with 1:100,000 epinephrine. Articaine is known to be more potent than Lidocaine and, therefore, requires a lower dose to achieve a similar state of anesthesia. However, cases of tissue necrosis and paresthesia have been reported with its use.
