I. INTRODUCTION Art has been around for thousands of years. In fact, different types of craft can be traced back to prehistoric times when Neanderthal men started painting on the walls of the cave. Throughout the centuries, art has evolved to several forms among which are sculpting, painting, and even poetry. Art is the product or process of deliberately arranging items in a way that influences and affects one or more of the senses, emotions, and intellect. It encompasses a diverse range of human activities, creations, and modes of expression, including music, literature, film, photography, sculpture, and paintings. The

This paper is intended to present an artist from Tacloban City. His way of art, life and important works are discussed. The artist/painter Archimedes Prisno is the subject in this paper and he is mostly into Social Realism. He gets his inspiration from the issues in the Philippines and expresses it in a very artistic way that viewers could easily identify the message he wants to convey. Aside from being a painter, he is also a musician, and inclined into ethnotribal music.

Archimedes Prisno has his interest on Visual arts. Visual arts are art forms that make works which are mainly visual in nature, such as ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, design, crafts, and often modern visual arts- photography, video, and filmmaking- and architecture. These definitions should not be taken stringently as many artistic disciplines involve facet of the visual arts as well as arts of other types.
