Everyday we pass by a work of art and don't even acknowledge its existence. Art is everywhere we go, for example, a statue in a park is a work of art, it’s not only there for decorations. It has a purpose for being at that particular location, with hope that someone may notice it. Having the opportunity to learn about previous artworks, one of them really stood out to me from ancient Egypt. When an individual hears Egyptian art they mostly think about mummies, pyramids, or Pharaohs.…

Visiting the PEM museum and discovering Gardner Pingree house and the Yin Yu Tang house, I learned many things throughout my whole experience. Going through two different houses and contrasting both of the houses seemed very easy because both of the house were from two different parts of the world. The Gardener's Pingree House was from U.S.A and the Yin Yu Tang House was from China. The Yin Yu Tang house was a Chinese house whose owner was a late dynasty merchant.…

The art is interesting for the facts that the people who made the art pieces put a lot of dedication and time in wanting to make them look great. The first section in the exhibition is the Art and Action which is all about artifacts of how people who made them went far beyond the boundaries to make a statement through their creativeness. The next couple of sections were the Art and Knowledge and the Art and Power. The art work in the Art and power section had a couple figures that were a bit scary it was darker than any of the other sections and you just felt that the art pieces…

Visitors can have an exclusive look into the life and works of an artist. Therefore, they can have a better understanding of the art pieces and have an examination of the artist's life and how he reflects his life into his art. The HMFA cannot obtain and display classical works of a famous artist in the past like Van Gogh or Leonardo da Vinci because their paintings are too valuable for the museums displaying them to give up. Therefore, the museum should focus on the contemporary arts of the 21st Century. The modern arts are still very unpopular considering to classical arts.…

I decided to visit Tampa Museum of art because this museum because is the closest one and because I heard about it before from my friends. Also one of my friends posted some pictures for the museum surroundings from outside and they caught my eyes. Although I’m not a big fan of art, I thought by visiting the museum I could learn more about history and also I can learn about different cultural beliefs from their art. Before visiting the museum I had a picture on my mind of what the museum is going to look like, but it turned out to be different from what I had in my mind and my…

For this part of the assignment I decided to visit the Philadelphia Art Museum. Being that this was my first time to ever visit the museum I had such an amazing time exploring the arts. The Philadelphia art museum main building consists of three main floors, the ground floor where we have the Prints, drawings and Photographs, Modern and Contemporary Art and South Asian Art and other services such as the dining hall area, the cafeteria, education classrooms, committee room, Auditorium, Main Museum store and many others. The museum’s main building offers a “walk through time” as I encounter over 2,000 years of exceptional art and creativity. As I walk through the varieties of displays and pieces of art I was taken away by each and every one…

This was definitely the most simple of the displays put here because all of the paintings were lifelike and easy to decipher because they were also more straightforward and seldom open to interpretation unlike the photos in Concentrations 60. Overall, visiting the Dallas Museum of Art was a new and exciting experience because its exhibits really opens one’s eyes as to how art alone reflects different periods of time, cultures, and places around the world and evolves as does humanity. Moreover, it shows how art does not come from culture, but creates it and often evinces the psyche of its…

Traditionally, museums are considered secular sites in which curators display art objectively; however, in her work, “The art museum as ritual,” Carol Duncan examines how museums act as powerful entities which influence the visitors’ perception through the display, organization, and architecture of the space. She elaborates that the museum’s authority actually enables them to represent and define entire communities, which consequently shapes the visitors’ perceptions of said communities. Perhaps Duncan’s claim is best summarized as: “To control a museum means precisely to control the representations of a community and its highest values and truths… What we see and do not see in … museums and on what terms and by whose authority we do or do…
